Meet the 10 Startups Emerging from Betaworks’ Most Recent Program

Betaworks recently unveiled 10 startups from its 13th Camp program, focused on the theme of “Interfaces”companies reshaping how users experience AI. The cohort demonstrates diverse approaches to human-AI interaction, from brain-computer interfaces to ambient computing. Notable participants include Nora, a browser extension tracking shopping habits; Primitive, which converts voice ideas into actionable task lists; and Patina, developing “scent photographs” using protein folding and neural networks. Other innovations span productivity tools like Feather for automated workflows and Telepath, an AI-powered computer without traditional apps.

Breaking New Ground in Human-Computer Interaction

The program showcases startups pushing technical boundaries in novel ways. Nubrain is creating EEG technology to translate human thoughts into speech, text, and images, while Intension helps desktop workers maintain focus by removing distractions and tracking attention patterns. Meanwhile, My Place by Orange offers games simulating realistic everyday human life, and Presq enables influencers to design manufacturable footwear through AI-generated prompts, with plans to expand into eyewear and home goods. The still-stealth Putty, founded by Kevin Chang, focuses on memory systems and ambient interfaces adapted to life’s sporadic rhythms.

Building the Future of AI Applications

The 13-week program, which began in August with Demo Day held on November 4, has previously launched successful companies like Hugging Face and Graze Social. This cohort represents Betaworks’ continued commitment to thesis-based investing in transformative AI applications. By emphasizing interface design over mere functionality, these startups are tackling the challenge of making AI more intuitive, accessible, and seamlessly integrated into daily workflows. The diversity of approaches from scent technology to thought translation illustrates the expansive possibilities emerging as AI matures beyond chatbots and basic assistants into more sophisticated, context-aware tools.
